Energy Earnings- Sell your energy to make thousands of dollars a year!
In an effort to promote renewable energy, the electric companies will pay you to produce solar power! Here is how it works:
- Each month your system produces energy, measured in kilowatt hours (kWh). These kWhs accumulate, regardless if you use all of your power or not.
- Once you make 1,000 kWhs, you can sell your energy to electric companies across the country as a bundle called an SREC (Solar Renewable Energy Credit)
- The price of these SRECs can vary from month to month, and are “bid on” like the stock market. In the old days, finding the highest bidder was time consuming.
